Yesterday was my first day off work for the whole Memphis Concrète stretch. I went up to Crosstown to meet up with Jenny to just kind of go over a few logistical things, there wasn't a whole lot so it went pretty well. I ran into Courtney when I first got in there and she said there was a little bit of concern over the quality of my video edit (like, the video didn't stay at full blu ray quality) and I'm hoping it's not too bad because the sound edits are important. She seemed to indicate that it wasn't a big jump, but we'll see. Oh yeah, all that's today. I did a run for drinks and batteries. I've been working on getting the setup for Harsh Noise Karaoke on Friday (oh yeah, that's tomorrow too). I think it's mostly kinda there. Kinda sorta. I also set up the little animated schedules for between artists during the festival, showing the day's schedule and letting you know who's next. At night I went up to Crosstown to see Evan Williams and Blueshift Ensemble. They played a few pieces including a new one written for Crosstown Concourse and it had samples of interviews about the building from when they first opened it. The ensemble was spread around the atrium. Then they closed with Terry Riley's "In C" and that was really fabulous. People were encouraged to get up and move around the building and go up different floors (as performers were scattered around and on different floors). I stayed put because my foot has been hurting (more on that in a second). Mary Beth had been in an Indie Memphis screening of Barbara Hammer movies in the theater and she came out to catch the end of this last one. But yeah, my foot. It randomly started hurting the other day. I think I first notice it on Monday coming out of the radio station from the show I did. Kinda feels like it's been getting worse too. Thought maybe it could be a splinter but tried to find one and haven't been successful (maybe I made things worse digging holes in my foot trying to find it). And now I have a whole bunch of shit where I need to be on my feet. Real nice timing. Hauling massive amounts of gear today is going to be fun.
