I made a trailer for Halloween III for Crosstown to show. I just took the original trailer and added some music and some text. I threw something together pretty quickly music-wise that I was happy with. I did a bass thing on the Taurus that's similar to something I'm doing in the actual score, but the rest was unique to this. I did a warbly, warped melody on the Wasp and then another track of Wasp sample and hold and another track of modular sample and hold. Then I just had that playing alongside the trailer. And I added some text (towards the beginning and end) about Memphis Concrète and Crosstown Arts and the date and the live score and who's playing. I thought it ended up pretty cool. In the evening we went over to Josh and Molly's and hung out and talked sitting outside in the nice weather and it was a nice good time. We ordered food from Venice Kitchen so got to eat lots of mozzarella and meatballs. Then Mary Beth and I went to a show at the Hi-Tone. We got there just a few minutes after it'd started and kavotaman was playing when we arrived (but we only missed like the first five minutes). He was incredible as always. Then it was chk!dsk with a dj set and that was alright. Glad I Didn't Get My Stupid Wish was next and they were really really good. Mostly kind of synth punk but they switched up instruments a bit and it got a little bit eclectic in sound. I don't know what it is about that damn Killers song, but it came up twice in those two sets with all these young folks flipping out about it. It was played in chk!dsk's dj set (albeit distorted and mangled a little bit) and then GIDGMSW covered it, but it was the kind of cover where they're really playing a completely different song but are singing the words to that song over it (which, made it better, of course because it's not a very good song). Anyway, I feel like I'm too old to like it and also that they should all be too young to like it but maybe for them there's a childhood nostalgia thing? (Which is weird to think about so I'm moving on now.) Last it was W1ND0W with another good set and for their ending improvisation, Vinnie joined on synth and it was good. I also noticed Vinnie has a tattoo of the Tristero horn on his arm so I briefly talked to him about Pynchon and other books before heading off. Now it's back to working. Blugh.
