Had a great time at the show last night. I mean, I knew it'd be a great show and it was! Artificer was up first and they were just flat-out incredible as they always are. Next was Drekka and his set was really great too. He always has a pretty somewhat interactive set, moving about the audience somewhat and doing unexpected physical things (jumping up on his table was the most memorable though he didn't do it this time, though he did stretch with his feet on the stage behind him and his hands on the table, like some kind of gymnastic exercise) and I've never seen him play at a place where there's a real stage so of course he played in front of the stage instead of on it. It was Mary Beth's first time seeing him perform and she was duly impressed. Next was post doom romance and they were great. Seah had a cello she mostly played and I don't think I knew that'd be a part of it. And last was Dinosauria and he was great as always. He did a thing at the end where he has this small walkie-talkie type microphone and sang through it through pedals and stuff. That was cool! Picked up some merch from post doom romance's table, a t-shirt and some cds: Swim Ignorant Fire: Pale Horses, Mykel Boyd: Fever Dream Four, Havre de Grace: The Black Sea Pt 1, 33blackLP: I, City of Djinn: Ether and Red Sulphur, and Mapped Out in Lights: Longform One...and also a 7" 'cuz it was a package deal and I was out of cds I didn't already have: Irr.App.(Ext.) + Mykel Boyd: Dented Switchery/Compare Me to a Shadow. It was a pretty good turnout especially considering the storms that were going on! After I was at the venue I saw things about tornado warnings or something. I think there were tornadoes in Mississippi. Anyway, it was good to see and talk to some people. It felt like all-around a really good show. And it was our first Memphis Concrète show done at Black Lodge. After the weirdness of that show The Family Ghost played there a month ago, I was getting worried about this one. Apparently the sound guy in question had since been fired (they'd had other issues with him too) and the guy doing sound last night was courteous and professional and everything sounded very good. So that was definitely a plus!
