Fix and De-Fix
Mar. 23rd, 2023 08:13 amYesterday Mary Beth and I did our Fresh Market lunchtime run. Later at night I worked on music. I got the tape player working. I got the glob of glue cleared enough that it would play (a little wobbly and would hit that glue bump but would keep going which was good for my purposes), but... So I played the whole tape through and it was great and fine and I was going to play it again this time seeing if I could practice setting up an effects patch through the modular with it (would have to figure out a contact mic situation as I did break the wires connecting to the output jack). Well, after playing it through successfully it was back to the old problem the second try. It was hitching up and stopping the same way it did before. My guess is that the excessive glob of glue wasn't so stable and came off (it was kind of half-on-half-off from trying to de-globify it). Well, I guess I can try again. I did a second coating for the smaller notch after de-globifying attempts pulled the glue off that, and after a little experience it was much better. So maybe if I take it apart one more time I can do a better job with gluing the big notch? I dunno, we'll see. After that bit of false hope, I worked out the rest of my non-tape related patches and am pretty happy with what I have for the show. Can maybe work on it a little more after I get the tape (or backup substitute) sussed out.
