New Artists Showcase
Mar. 13th, 2023 08:18 amThe Memphis Concrète "new artists showcase" was last night and I think it went pretty well! At first it seemed like there was going to be almost no turnout but some people showed up after the first act and while it wasn't a ton, it wasn't too bad. Everyone was really good and it was, I think it was a first time playing live for most of them (at least half). Shake Machine Down was first and his stuff was a bit idm-ish, a little noisy at times and such. Liars Serum was next. He billed himself as "acid noise" and that's pretty fitting. Lots of squelcy bass sequences and then some run-through-pedals noise on top of everything. kavotaman was next and that was a wonderful wall of harsh noise. Sometimes he played some violin into all his sound, but it didn't ever sound like violin, everything was just so sonically destroyed. It was beautiful. Last was He-Man and he had a real good house kinda set. His was the most dancey but he had lots of real nice sounds going on. Everyone there was real nice and it was a pretty fun vibe. Now I need to get my body adjusted to sleeping post-daylight-time-change. Ugh.
