Yesterday I got this cd in the mail: David Shire: The Conversation soundtrack. Then at night I went up to Crosstown to see Assault on Precinct 13. I'd never seen it before (had been meaning to of course, but never gotten to it, though I've had the soundtrack for forever). Anyway, it was pretty good. I mean, far from Carpenter's best and it does feel early and a little rough around the edges, but there are some Carpenter trademarks that are coming through. Anyway, it was nice to finally see it (and on a big screen!).
