Mary Beth and I went and voted after work yesterday. So that's done! But like, I know they were making fun of me up at the polling place because I wasn't expecting the choice of voting by machine or paper (we JUST got these new voting machines so I guess the process changed) and at first I took too long to answer and then I picked paper but then I went over to that table and then changed my mind and went to the machine. I was just thrown off and I'm slow and I know I looked like an idiot. After coming home we were going to walk around the neighborhood, but saw our neighbor's truck (see, just the other day we'd left a hard-to-explain gift and note of "welcome" since we thought he was going to move out earlier but then he didn't but we'd never welcomed him when he moved in during covid times but then we're worried it'd seem weird running into him right after that) so we just kept driving like awkward weirdos and went to the park and walked there but that was nice too 'cuz it was the park and all that! There were many pairs of duck couples in the pond and one couple was two mallards who we surmised must be gay ducks and their butt-up diving was so synchronized. Okay, now I'm off work today, woo!

The machine has a printable receipt at least? One thing I like in Madison we have tabulating machines, but a paper form, then we feed the form into a machine. I assume the voting machine itself is touch screen or something?

Poor fella. But those two just had something special there wasn't room for anyone else in...

The new machines are touchscreen and electronic, but you feed in a paper strip that it prints the results out onto and then is scanned onto another machine. Our previous machines that we'd had forever were touchscreen but they were only electronic and there was no paper trail before, they just saved onto a chip card. So a step up with a paper trail at least.
