I went and saw a really great show at B Side last night. Ihcilon was up first and fantastic as always. Oh, and before the show he introduced me to the booking guy, I forget his name but he does Memphis Underground thing. He's mostly centered around the metal scene but he's wanting to pipe in some more unusual and weird music and we talked a good bit about stuff like musique concrète and early industrial and noise and stuff and it was fun. The next act, I wasn't at first sure what was going to happen with someone in a Korn shirt doing a solo set, but it was really great! (Haha.) Karenia Brevis played very slow, sparse guitar with vocals. It was a bit like later Earth (with vocals). And yeah, really good. Last was Brian Hillhouse, who played guitar with lots of effects like reverb and delay and kind of had a droney thing. He had sang too, sometimes his vocals weren't the best but overall his stuff was good. At the end when I was introduced to KC (Karenia Brevis) I was kinda shy and awkward and didn't say much and then left right after, I think it was because I'd wanted to buy some merch but she only had vinyl and I don't listen to vinyl so I didn't buy anything so then I weirdly felt bad about it. Then later after I got home I realized she's in Thou (and I think I remember Paul mentioning that, but I didn't remember/make the connection at the time of the show). Had I known that at the time, I would have been a poser anyway as the only thing of theirs I know is the collab with The Body (and now I see she wasn't even a member of the band at that time!).
