ateolf: (i ♥ George)

Pretty normal day yesterday getting back into the swing of things. In the afternoon I finished reading A Void by Georges Perec. It was good. I was going to write this post as a lipogram but then I realized of course I couldn't write Perec's name and that would just kind of mess things up (I mean, I COULD get around that but I'd be violating my own documentation constraints!). Anyway, Mary Beth and I did our Kroger grocery shopping at night. And later I went over to Jacques's to drop off some things and we sat around and chatted a lil bit.

Now, here's a few things I forgot to mention in my last post. Let's see how much more I end up with later. In St. Louis, the last thing we did that Friday night was to go get frozen custard from Ted Drewes and it was good and I even got a t-shirt! Jacques, while he was catsitting, sent us a picture of Trudy the first time he was there but then that ended up being the only time he saw her. On Wednesday night, we went back to the Sleeping Bear Dunes parking lot for some stargazing. Once it got dark, it was the most incredible night sky I've probably seen. We saw a great sky in Arkansas recently, but this beat even that. The Milky Way was exceptionally clear. The only annoying thing is there was this annoying family that was coming back down the dune climb late after dark and they just kept slowly trickling in. That would be fine, but the dad or whatever arrives first and starts up the suv and shines the headlights on the big dune and keeps them shining until everyone else finally trickles back in. And of course that disrupted the stargazing. But they finally, finally left and then I really got to marvel in the sky. So, as to our paddleboarding incident, I really said all this, but it's more of an additional reflection. We had all these planned activities with warnings about people needing to be rescued and stuff and we managed to plan and be careful around that! But of course it was the unplanned activity we jumped into that we needed to be rescued from! Okay, then later in the day in Traverse City, the last thing we did was hit up this barcade. They mostly had pinball but they had a few old arcade machines. I played one game of Burger Time, a whole bunch of Frogger, and finished with one game of Missile Command. Those games were fun! Then I forgot to mention about the show in Louisville that I talked a little bit to Jason of The Corrupting Sea and bought his newest cd from him: The Corrupting Sea: Lungs like Lead (it's packaged in a very fancy book). Then he just gave me a couple others: The Corrupting Sea: Soul Mate and The Corrupting Sea: Chamber Music for the Dead. Well, I that's all I can remember that I forgot! Maybe I'll have some more later.
