ateolf: (The Metamorphosis)

Yesterday was a weird day. It started off with just good things. I went up to Bain in the morning and picked up a bunch of kolaches. I'd been motivated 'cuz I'd just heard they'd gotten their brisket back on the menu (though had been meaning to go for the kolaches anyway, for a while), but the counters for the bakery and barbecue are separate and after getting the kolaches, the line for the barbecue was pretty long and then I'm like, actually, we already have more than we can eat in kolaches so I'll just skip the brisket for today (I sure did say "kolaches" a lot, huh?). Then we ate them and they were very delicious. In the early afternoon I made another listchallenges list, starting to delve back into previous years for material (books I read in 2018, the year before I started doing those year-end lists there). Then, later in the day, we're driving and coming from downtown. We're stopped at the light at Vance and Danny Thomas, to turn left onto Danny Thomas (to head north) and we hear what sounds like gunshots and across the intersection on the other side of Vance these two cars come up and one comes up on the side of the other and people in the car are wielding guns, rifles probably, we ducked down until we'd heard the cars rev and squeal away. Didn't get a good look at the cars and not sure at all of what happened, but that was not a fun experience. Later in the evening we watched a little bit of Hilda. At night, before going to bed, I finally worked on my novel some. I wrote the first paragraph (and some change), it's a long paragraph. It's been bouncing in my head for a good while, so finally good to get something down.
