I thought I'd try looking back into the whole rescuing the files off my old corrupted hard drive thing. So I went into that open source command line program to give it another go. I did make a discovery, that if you click on the cli window, then I guess windows pauses its execution until you hit on the keyboard again. And I think that's what happened last time when it seemed to freeze up and I just thought it wouldn't work. So I left it scanning the whole day and it worked but now I think I realize I selected the wrong menu option so...I'm having to scan it again. At least I got a little earlier start (and I've set up my power mode to not go to sleep because it also pauses while the computer's asleep as I learned the hard way yesterday!). Anyway, yesterday afternoon Mary Beth and I lugged out her little tub into the front yard and hung out, her in the tub, me reading some. I read to her the Calvino story "The Garden of Stubborn Cats". Now it's my extra weekend day and I'm just trying to will my computer to scan faster.
