What Is a Show?
Mar. 24th, 2022 08:02 amWent to a show for the first time in a good long while, breaking my public events moratorium (first since the one I played and omicron really hit). Not much else about yesterday before that. Mary Beth and I did our TFM grocery run during my lunch break. Okay, so the show was at the Lamplighter. Pretty good crowd, I got to see a lot of people (and I almost see no one nowadays anyway). I stayed masked. Ihcilon was up first and played a great set (the best of the night! and I'm not just saying that 'cuz Paul's the one who might read this! but yeah, it was great as always). Next was Timber Rattle and he was good. Very similar to the last time I saw him, kind of a drone industrial but with an almost hippie-ish leaning, still good though. Drekka was next and brought lots of energy (to the drone) as always. The Pop Ritual finished it up and they were also good (and Scott was bouncin' around with a bunch of energy and such). I got to formally meet in person Jill, who is window and played MC last year. I'd seen them around and talked virtually for the festival but finally got to in-person make the connection. A couple came up to me and Jacques after to thank us for putting on noise shows and such with MC and to show their appreciation. It was nice and touching. I picked up a little bit of merch: Timber Rattle: Phantoms of Place, Drekka: Beings of ImberIndus, and Drekka: Take Care to Fall. I also got The Pop Ritual's t-shirt and tried to pay for it but Colin wouldn't let me! Okay, now I need to pick up my energy and get to work!
