Yesterday during the lunch break I went on a no-fruit yielding search for new litter boxes for Trudy. It seems like they don't like to make the ones she likes anymore (neither fancy enough nor unfancy enough). I got some cds in the mail: Eliane Radigue: Opus 17, Merzbow: Uzura: 13 Japanese Birds Pt. 5, and Ranaldo / Giffoni / Moore / Cline: Four Guitars Live. I had a deployment last night. It was fine. After that I watched part of Magic Mike XXL with Mary Beth. That's about it. Woke up a little early today so will probably be a little sleepy again.

and i think about the chapter in wolf's medea about the artemis festival, how it had all the appearance/trappings but none of what ritual/rite actually means to do in solid lasting effect (i think there was a part of some other book i read recently alluding to the same thing, holiday celebrations appearing to be like the real thing but not yielding the warmth and feeling at the core because everything societally's at odds with it...maybe julia child talking about christmas in france--good food and spending time boisterously with folks you like--vs america where it was all a lot of performative decorative stress and department store consumerism?). that makes more sense to bring up because mmxxl reminded me i want to rewatch gospel of eureka, and i think it alludes to rites as function and how some of the ones at work in actual effect today are not recognized as such.
