Being out traveling and not having the chance to do much Duolingo, after coming back I'd been knocked off the league board I'm in. It rolls over sometime on Sunday night so I had a couple hours to get back up (I wasn't far behind anyway) so I managed it. Wouldn't've been the biggest deal, I mean, the bigger thing is keeping the streak, but I was glad to maintain. And I did remember a couple of things I'd initially forgotten about the trip. On Saturday, coming back from the mountain scenic drive, we stopped for gas in the little town where the road starts (though, as far as places we passed through on the trip, relatively big). We also both went in to use the restroom. While I was still outside pumping the gas, Mary Beth was in with her mask and the people in there were talking about how at restaurants, the REAL problem in spreading covid is the people who order take out and the people dining in are actually fine and good (of course, you can imagine no one is wearing masks). Anyway, can't even try to parse that one. Later at night on Saturday, we were outside on the back deck to enjoy the night. We saw some raccoons down on the ground below (the cabins are close to the lake and the hill going down to it so the back decks are somewhat high up given how the ground steeply drops off below). Mary Beth was shining the lights on them to get a look and all and then we went inside. In the morning, on the ground in front of the tree that's closest to the center of the deck and that the raccoons had been right in front of, there was a grouping of some big ol' raccoon turds. I guess they were showing us what they'd thought of us and our light! Now it's back to being at work after my nice little trip. We'll see if everything's as crazy as when I'd left it.
