Exit Ghost
May. 23rd, 2018 04:59 pmMary Beth and I went to see the latest Czech movie for Indie Memphis last night: Loves of a Blonde. It was really good. It was pretty similar to The Firemen's Ball (actors, pacing, humor, style, some settings) but on a more personal scale. They showed it in the wrong aspect ratio though so the whole image was stretched for the duration. I dealt with it and still enjoyed it (but man, it does bug me a bit having to watch that!). The q&a afterwards was pretty good. Mostly just audience talk. And there were a few Czech people there to comment and one woman who worked with Forman (and was his neighbor) on The People Vs. Larry Flynt. That ended up being more enjoyable than those usually are. Today at work I tested a thing that was kinda high priority and was a last minute sort of thing with a business deadline, but helped get it moved just in the nick of time (it was pretty straightforward but we ended up having server issues where an old version of the code was stuck somewhere so every several calls it didn't work right, at least I was able to recognize it as old code and not the new code failing and dev ops was able to fix it). And testing wrapped up on the other big thing that we'd been trying to get out for like two pis. So nothing but "thrills" at work today. Pretty sad to hear about Philip Roth dying. I've read quite a few of his books but there's still so many more to read!
