Recordings
Jul. 25th, 2016 05:42 pmHad a pretty productive recording session with The Family Ghost yesterday. Jacques came over and then Paul. We first recorded Jacques's horn samples on the reggae track. Really cheesy/fake sounding with part of it ripped off this horn part on a Scientist track, but kinda awesome in its way. Then Paul recorded bass on the classic rock song. He also wanted to add another guitar to it so he did. Instead of doing bass on the reggae song, he recorded a guitar part since there was already bass and he figured it was fine. I had intended on writing a guitar part, but with his I didn't feel the need to. Then I recorded a synth solo on the classic rock song. Then Jacques and I recorded vocals on the reggae track. I wrote just a basic little mantra to repeat and we recorded each of our voices modulating the other's with the vocoder and then recorded our vocals through the ring modulator and then we additionally modulated the two pseudo-vocoder tracks against each other with the ring modulator. So the vocals are kinda goofy. In both the songs, with all the layers, those times my timing was a bit wonky on the drum fills don't sound so much like glaring mistakes. Maybe that'll change when I listen again.
