Phone Bank
Feb. 28th, 2016 04:16 pmI'm always forgetting shit. In my last post I forgot to mention spending a few hours phone banking for Bernie on Wednesday and Thursday. It was strangely pretty fun. For the most part, it's waiting for anything to answer and the line dropping and wrong numbers and people who don't live with their parents anymore. Most of the people I talked to fell under "undecided." A couple Trump supporters (including one who wanted to keep me on the line asking who I was voting for and then saying "you know he ain't gonna win" and then "you can't stand hearing it can you?" and I'm cracking up trying to finish filling out the options before moving on to the next call, the other guy was nicer, saying after I asked who he was voting for "you're not gonna like it..."), one woman who appreciated "his honesty" but was "staunchly pro-life", a Clinton supporter, and one family who, even though the daughter wasn't home, the mother said they were both Bernie supporters. There were a couple trolls who Bernie an idiot, one using a goofy voice. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do it again before Super Tuesday. Oh yeah, we had these flip phones to use and one guy asked if they were "Berner phones." I thought it was a good joke.
Last night Mary Beth and I went up to Storybooth for the Impossible Language reading series. Some local poets read some poems. Some of them were pretty good. This one guy was pretty funny with his prose poems about a talking dog and religion and a "crass menagerie" but he was maybe even funnier in his descriptions of his work. We also finished plowing through The Great British Baking Show. Today we got brunch at Second Line. It was my first time actually going there. It was pretty good. The grits were good, the breakfast poboy was pretty good with the gooey eggs, but I may have expected some more flavor or something. It apparently had the bacon switched for ham and if I was thinking right I'd remember they use Benton bacon and I should have substituted after all. Went to my workplace to pick up my laptop charger so I could finish editing the Bands for Bernie set. I've got each band's set edited out to their own file so now I'm just slowly uploading this shit to share with all the bands.
