learnin'n'rockin'
Jun. 4th, 2001 03:25 pmwent to sleep early last night and caught up...went to class this morning...it was pretty sucky 'cuz they did the ol' teacher switch-aroo...instead of Dr. Zhang walking through the door, it was Dr. Jamison, the evil bastard who i had the second time i took calc 2...Dr. Zhang had other plans for the summer...oh well...i have to take it now...otherwise i'll be too far behind...if i do my homework and stuff i'll be able to manage...after class i went to the pawn shop and payed for the rest of my new guitar and like took it and stuff...then i went by Lastchance to order some DNA...i also swung by the used section...i don't think an explanation needs to be given:
Tristeza: "Foreshadow" single
New Order: Substance
Labradford: Prazision LP
mmm...cds...i have the 7" of the Tristeza thing, but it's cool to have stuff in cd format...also it has an extra song: the original version of "Cinematography"...it has guitar instead of the piano...and Lastchance has been nice in providing me w/ used 2 disc comps (New Order and Talking Heads, from the other day...) and two cds w/ really good mixed w/ bad...i like how Substance is set up though...w/ the a sides on disc one and the b sides on disc two instead of just doing it all chronologically...that way you listen to really great songs then the mediocre/bad songs, then you put in disc two and start get some more great songs before the quality drops down again...as opposed to good stuff and then just going to bad...yea...they should've let me compile it (not that i knew who New Order was back in '87 or would've even picked the good stuff instead of just putting even worse stuff on there...being a kid and listening to FM100...) but like, ummm...they should let me re-do it now...i could easily condense it down to one disc...and have enough room to put the rest of the 1981-1982 ep on it...and still have both versions of "Temptation"...which also leads me to say they should've put the original version of "Temptation" on Substance...the '87 version is still good, but still not nearly as great as the original...oh well...after Lastchance i went by the bank and deposited my Adecco check and the cash that i had on me...OOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!!!! MY BIG MUFF JUST ARRIVED IN THE MAIL!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!! but as i return to my the day's events...after that i went and got my oil changed and came home...i work not too long from now...but NOW i go play my new pedal!!!! and give the guy good feedback...WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
p.s.
just after i posted i went down and saw that also, arriving via UPS, was my Electro-Harmonix Frequency Analyzer ring modulator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: DNA
Date: 2001-06-06 07:33 pm (UTC)if you like dna, you might like "the crainium" from d.c. they're rockin'.
oh, and i don't know if you caught it in my journal a week or so ago, but there's this band, "come on", that you'd quite possibly enjoy. they only put out a single when they were around, but a bunch of home recordings were found and put onto a compilation disk about two years ago. if you want to listen (if you haven't heard of them already), i can send you an mp3 via AIM. they're sorta no wave/david byrne.
