and they were fucking AMAZING!!! i was worried they wouldn't be very good (as bands can have a tendency to do upon reuniting 20 yrs later or so...and i heard they weren't very good on their last reunion...) but that was a REALLY great show...they did 4 songs from Marquee Moon (Venus, See No Evil, Prove It, and Marquee Moon, which is what they closed the set with...) the first song for the encore was Gloria, the only one from Adventure...and a bunch of stuff i had never heard...i'm wondering if some of it's new...the first song was really great...they played for a little over an hour and a half, then the club was almost pushing everyone out 'cuz there was another show afterwards there...(Cibo Mato) but i just thought i'd share as it was mentioned....and Tom Verlaine's voice still sounds the same...i was also worried it'd be all different from being old and stuff...but it's not...and his guitar playing is still just incredibly amazing...woo! and tonight i'm off to see Autechre and then Suicide the next night, who i doubt will be anywhere near to being as good as they used to be, as Television managed...but, damnit, it's Suicide and it'd be a crime NOT to see them...or something like that...

I'm so psyched for the tour they will (damn hopefully) be doing. I've seen Tom Verlaine solo, but I think I was like 10 during the last reunion. I don't know if you're up on guitars, but what was Tom playing? He put up his jazzmaster that he used on Marquee and Adventure on ebay.. I think it got like $40,000. Sickening.

I just saw Autechre. It was pretty good, but if Rob is doing a DJ set first, consider that very skippable. And haven't seen suicide, but I saw Alan Vega a couple years ago and it was a truly humorous experience. First of all, they weren't playing, the show was off a discman on stage. Besides a downright geriatric vega, you had a sleazy looking lady 'dancing' and beating on one of those Roland octapads, and then you had this big fat guy with a fuckin STEINBERGER and a Ghost Rider (the comic) t shirt sort of making guitar noise (the only thing that wasn't off the CD). I think I left after 5 minutes.

Tom was playing a strat...

as for Suicide...my god! they were fucking great! i couldn't believe it! but it was a really great show...Alan Vega touched my head and then i hi-fived Martin Rev...i'll go into much greater detail later...but like...i couldn't believe it

and tonight's Karl Vandermark and then Anti-Pop Consortium...i haven't heard them yet but they're supposed to be really good...so hopefully this'll just be like 5 nights in a row of great shows...woo
