after my first few of these survey things i've tended to avoid them, but as this one's music-related and i'm a big fucking dork...(stolen , of course...seen first by these three people...)

1. WHAT WAS THE FIRST RECORD YOU OWNED (BOUGHT FOR YOU)?

prob'ly something by the Beach Boys...very difficult to remember things clearly that long ago...

2. WHAT WAS THE FIRST RECORD YOU EVER BOUGHT?

B-52's: Cosmic Thing on tape...next i believe was Classic Queen...then some G'n'R...

3. IF YOU HAD SOMEONE OF THE OPPOSITE SEX COMING OVER AND WANTED TO IMPRESS THEM, WHICH CDS WOULD YOU HIDE?

if they can't love me for who i am, then i ain't got no use for them hoez...besides, i'd be much more embarrased of the fact that i'm 22 and live w/ my parents than any of my cds...

4. IS THERE A SONG THAT REMINDS YOU MOST OF YOUR CHILDHOOD?

maybe "Surfin' USA" but that's hard to say...(i was a big surfer...yeah...)

5. IF YOU COULD SPEND A NIGHT WITH FIVE MUSICAL ARTISTS - THREE FOR THEIR MINDS AND TWO FOR THEIR BODIES - WHO WOULD THEY BE?

Yoshimi (both), Sophie (of Godspeed[...peror]!, i think she smiled at me, damnit!) (both), Steve Shelley, Lee Ranaldo, and Thurston Moore...

6. IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT SONG WOULD PLAY OVER THE FOLLOWING:

*** OPENING CREDITS: "Teenage Riot" - Sonic Youth
*** LOVE SCENES: "Field Day for the Sundays" - Wire
*** CLOSING CREDITS: "Elegy for All the Dead Rock Stars" - Thurston Moore (they'd prob'ly be long anyways...)

7. IF APPLICABLE, NAME A SONG OR CONCERT THAT MOVED YOU TO TEARS...

hrm...seeing SY at the Last Place on Earth moved me to being like excited and stuff, but not to tears or anything...

8. WHAT DO YOU LISTEN TO WHEN YOU ARE...

HAPPY: Sonic Youth, Boredoms (they usually induce the happiness), Devo
SAD: Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Yo La Tengo, Boredoms (if i wish to cease the sadness), Unwound
DISILLUSIONED or DISENCHANTED: Sonic Youth, ummm...i think this category fits in too well w/ sad and angry...
ANGRY: Sonic Youth, Violent Femmes, Wire, Unwound, Minor Threat, any good punkrock

9. NAME ONE MUSICAL ARTIST YOU COULD LIKE TO SEE BANISHED:

i think that's a bit harsh, but in the spirit of playing along w/ this: Moby

10. NAME ONE MUSICAL GENRE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE BANISHED:

same disclaimer as #9: prob'ly that rap-metal Korn stuff...maybe rave stuff...

11. NAME A SONG YOU WOULD RATHER NEVER HEAR AGAIN:

the majority of songs could fall in that category...i'll try not to spend too much time here trying to single one out...well...okay i will: this damned Moby song that i don't know the name of...(most/all of them actually...)

12. WHAT NOW-DEFUNCT BAND WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO SEE REUNITE (LIVING OR DEAD)?

2 minutes ago i just heard that both Joy Division and Throbbing Gristle had unannounced reunion shows last week!?!?!? barring that i'd say Joy Division as a joke, but if it's true...ummm...damnit!

13. NAME AN ALBUM THAT IS PERFECT ALL THE WAY THROUGH - NO FILLER, NO BAD STUFF.

Daydream Nation

14. MUSIC YOU LIKE THAT COULD BE CONSIDERED A GUILTY PLEASURE:

some trash rock...

15. IF YOUR MUSIC COLLECTION WAS ABOUT TO GO UP IN FLAMES, WHICH FIVE CDS WOULD YOU SAVE?

five!? i'd be grabbing armfulls and coming back for more...like only family members, my dogs, and i guess my drums and other music-making equipment would come first...oh yeah, and my rarer vinyl...

16. IS THERE A SONG THAT DESCRIBES YOU OR A SITUATION YOU'VE BEEN IN SO WELL THAT YOU COULD HAVE WRITTEN IT?:

the Violent Femmes' first album kind've does that...

17. WHICH UNDERRATED ARTIST DESERVES MORE ATTENTION?

many...as i was mentioning in my last post, The Clears...Disco Inferno as well...but on the flipside, it annoys me when they get TOO MUCH attention, for selfish reasons i guess...

18. HAS A SONG OR ARTIST CHANGED YOUR LIFE IN ANY WAY? IF SO, HOW?

Sonic Youth...the path to obsessive nerd-dom...

19. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SOUNDTRACK?

though i've never seen the movie (and most of it was cut from the final editing of the movie) i'm partial to the Made in USA soundtrack...i also like Low's soundtrack for The Exit Papers (never having even heard of the actual movie...) a LOT...

20. BEST MUSIC-RELATED MOVIE:

1991: The Year Punk Broke (or maybe Rap Damage)

21. WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM BAND BE?:

Sonic Youth featuring Robert Traxler

22. DO YOU MISS THE DAYS WHEN MTV USED TO, LIKE, SHOW VIDEOS AND STUFF?

no...

23. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ALL-TIME VIDEO?

maybe Yo La Tengo's "Sugarcube" or SY's "Death Valley 69"...hard to say...don't think about the videos too much...

24. CURRENT FAVORITE RADIO HIT:

ha! i'm too wicked underground for the fucking radio!!!!!!!!!

25. WHAT IS THE BEST ARTIST/GROUP OF ALL TIME?:

if you haven't guessed by now...but i'll state it for the record anyhow: Sonic Youth

hrm...i did love the Teen Wolf, but i think i liked The Beach Boys anyways...although it is a possibility as my memory of the details back then ain't so clear...but i think they were two seperately acquired passions for me...it prob'ly came from my parents and stuff...
