Mary Beth and I went up to the Dixon to check out all of the exhibits. One was called All Aboard: The Railroad in American Art, 1840-1955 and its name describes it! But it had a wide variety of styles and was well curated. The other main exhibit was called Pissarro to Picasso and the name is less descriptive but it's all works from this one collection and it does have works by Pissarro and Picasso but also lots of other great Modern artists. So I guess to sum it up pretty succinctly would be to say it was a nice collection of Modernist art. And in the local gallery it was an exhibition by Scott Carter! (I played music at his exhibit at Off the Walls a few years ago...one of the pieces even had a single leaf from that exhibit! I caught the callback.) All of the pieces incorporated audio jacks and circuits (and sometimes speakers) and I wished the Dixon had the audio set up so that the pieces could play 'cuz I wanted to know what they sound like. But they looked great anyway!
