ateolf: (MEEEEEEERY CHRIIIIIIIISTMAS HAHAHAHA!!!!)
Yesterday I was dealing a good bit of unusual backlash to Monday's mostly miraculously awesome show. So one attendee was very upset about how Laurel kicked out Adam and his standing ban from The Lamplighter. They first messaged me asking if I thought it was okay and I didn't get too much into it at the time as I was working and dead-ass tired from so little sleep. I was kinda like, I'll give a thoughtful response tomorrow when I've had some rest. Then later in the day Laurel messages me about it to let me know as they'd been bothering her about it, she mostly just wanted to apologize and have us thinking the Lamp kicks people out willy-nilly (which I at least knew some of the backstory so I know it wasn't the case). But in the afternoon after work I wrote my longer more thoughtful response and had a bit of back and forth on it and then they finished with "Understood" so it either worked or, more likely, I at least got them to the point where they were tired of going back and forth about it with me. I guess that's as good as it gets, but it was a bit draining. Also one of the artists who played was very upset about how their set went and is swearing off performing ever again (they've done this multiple times in the past, so I imagine some time will help), but big bummer that feels a bit out of my control now is that they're upset with one of the other artists who performed because they played excessively long (like, almost twice as long as the original set time and we went into this with the drag show moving back their time for us and I started off with a, hey maybe we can all play shorter sets so we don't clash with their time too much and they're doing us a huge favor). I'm not mad at the other artist, but it was a bit of a "nail biter" at the time (we did manage to scrape by under the time window we were offered, thanks to the diligence of the other performers being on top of it). Part of that is on me too, since I'm managing the schedule. I was trying to make subtler eye contact and stuff after it had been going on a while, and then as I finally I was getting up to go up on "stage" and let the performer know we needed to make time for the drag show, they announced "this is my last song" so I was just like, okay and sat back down. And none of this is to rag on any of the performers, just trying to get the background why it all feels a bit fraught. Anyway, that's the big chunk of my day. I was really too tired to even do much of anything else. Oh, I also meant to mention in my last post that Jenny is now starting to be Amy's co-host on the radio show and that's super cool!
