Ritual Ambient Universal Melodies
Apr. 17th, 2024 07:56 amThe show last night at Black Lodge was good. All the musicians were good. kavotaman, then Dinosauria, then Water Is the Sun, then Revenge Body. kavotaman had some homemade string instrument with the pegs being nails and the resonator being a tin can and he bowed it. I mean, whatever goes through his digital mauling process is not recognizable as its source in the slightest, but it's fun to watch (and listen to!). Dinosauria had a good set of course. Water Is the Sun is Michael Drekka and Adam from Timber Rattle and they sound exactly like Drekka and Timber Rattle playing together (and I mean that of course in a good way). It was maybe one of the best Revenge Body sets I've seen. He was also projecting The Duke of Burgundy behind him. Also, Jacques gave me this blu ray he had an extra copy of: Beep: a Documentary History of Video Game Sound. Yes, this sounds very much like a documentary I would want to watch! I picked up a Drekka shirt from the merch table. Mary Beth and I FINALLY got a Black Lodge Membership and then rented out some stuff. They JUST went to being closed Monday through Wednesday (kept previously scheduled events like our show so that was good of them) so I know they're not doing as great as they want to and it's that thing where I'd been MEANING to do that for forever, which is the oldest story, I know. Anyway, finally am. The show had an alright attendance. At first, it seemed like almost no one was there. People started to trickle in. It was never packed or anything, but Black Lodge is so cavernous that it makes it feel pretty empty even when there's a few people there. They did alright at the door, better than I was expecting so that's good. Anyway, there's my summation. Now I have another show, and one I'm playing, tonight!
