Last night I went to a show at the Lamplighter to see Lung, but then I found out after the show was over that Lung had had to cancel the rest of their tour dates 'cuz Kate had broken her ankle or something like that. So that was a little bit of a disappointment and would have been a big disappointment had not there been another band on the bill that was really good. Mostly the other bands weren't very good, but with some moments of being okay here and there. But Little Baby Tendencies was last and they were, as I said just now, really good! It's just the singer/guitarist and a drummer. They're pretty punk with some bits of metal sprinkled in. But it all comes out pretty noisy (not like NOISE noisy, but rockin' scratchy guitar noisy, with lots of vocal squawking). And even the metal riffs often kinda wash out into a kind of Dead Kennedys (or more remotely, MX-80) sound. Their song arrangements were also pretty sprawling, where they'd frequently stop and shift tempo and go back and forth off into musical tangents. Anyway yes, so it was worth it even though the band I'd come to see didn't play.
