Solderless
Nov. 23rd, 2016 03:44 pmSo Monday night Mary Beth and I went over to Stax to watch this Stevie Wonder film. It was from this pbs show called Soul back in 72. Mostly a live performance, a little bit of interview. It was pretty awesome. I guess for the tv format he did a little bit of medley-ish stuff, but pretty well, he'd shorten some songs, say play only one verse, but lengthen part of it like extend the chorus or whatever and threw in some covers. He also did a really long version of "Superstition" that was badass as fuck and kept building up, then it went into another song and after a while came back into it culminating in this crazy huge buildup. He did a bit of "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" with the ARP 2600+talk box that was awesome. The only sad thing is he started into "Keep On Running" as the credits were going and then the show ended! I wanted to hear it ALL. Anyway, good stuff. Ended up doing the deployment last night and that went alright. Though I was checking out one of the applications' log file and was seeing a bunch of errors. I checked into it and realized there was a configuration change that I missed and that line had to get added. Not a big deal, glad I caught it 'cuz it would have been a somewhat big deal. Got a bit of mail yesterday. Deep Note: Music of 1970's Adult Cinema (in a related note, the Inside Deep Note cd I got this weekend ended up being a darn on-demand cdr which I didn't realize when I ordered it so I returned it because that's dumb). Also a barnes & noble Criterion order (I was like, okay I'm not going for the sale this time, but then I did anyway): The Kid, 12 Angry Men, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, The Times of Harvey Milk, and For All Mankind. Because of the deployment I went in two hours late this morning, and because it's the day before a holiday we were let out three hours early! So pretty light day at work but I got some stuff done. On my way home I dropped by Josh's and returned his soldering iron. He said he'd fix the kit I'm working on. I forgot to mention but on Sunday I tried working on it some more to remove the clogged up holes but I wasn't getting anywhere and I gave up. Maybe he'll have better luck with it than I did. Oh yeah, I also forgot that Dustin found some other eurorack dudes in Memphis and added me and Josh to a little chat and we're talking about a synth meetup a little later. Exciting, nerdy stuff. Now I've gotta do some getting ready for thanksgiving tomorrow. Aye!
