Work yesterday was a little crazy. B2B has switched over to jboss and they were having lots of problems (we think it may mostly be in the physical setup of the server and database, hopefully that's mostly it and not in the code). Okay, after work Mary Beth and I go down to Southaven for the Foreigner show. It was entertaining, though it took forever to start. And naturally it's some stupid amphitheater named after a bank so it's the only place as such where the vendors don't accept cards, cash only. So you HAVE to use their atm and pay the fee. Anyway, Night Ranger opened. It was a little endearing how dorky they are. They closed with (right after "Sister Christian" of course, though I thought i'd be funny if they opened with that) some song about how you can still rock in america. And the screens showed flags and they put up two flags on the stage and it was pretty ridiculous. Also, at a point the guitarist who had played with Alice Cooper for 9 years slipped on stage. Foreigner of course played all their hits. I had a belief that the guitarist is the only original member and it turned out to be correct. Though I will give the current singer props for sounding just like whoever sang for them originally anyway. It was pretty funny. He had some Paul Stanley-level stage banter. Talking about the south and naughty girls and such. They had an honest to god drum solo (followed by the keyboard solo). It was the most boring part of the set but funny that it was there. Oh, but it was awesome 'cuz in the middle he started grabbing water bottles and dumping water on his toms and hit them so it sprayed everywhere. Also, the one song of theirs I just really and truly hate ("Jukebox Hero") is the one they drug out with the most extended version. It also seemed to be a crowd favorite so what do I know? He kept wanting everyone to stand up and that just made me want to keep sitting even more. It was also funny when they played their mostly acoustic rearrangement of "Say You Will" and they bragged about no samples and no synthesizers and no autotune (just REAL musicians playing REAL instruments)...but itt's fucking Foreigner, so I thought it was funny anyway (the synthesizer part anyway). The very drunk and sleazy grandfather next to me was funny. This morning Mary Beth and I got up and had breakfast burritos at Brother Juniper's. That's about it for now.
