Had a team lunch yesterday and met some of my coworkers at Los Comales. This was because Shruti was in town. She's newer to our team and came from another team in the company and I felt dumb for not realizing that she was someone who had been with the company from before and worked in the area next to ours back when we were in the office. But that was so long ago and so disconnected! But anyway! Aside from that, there was the "fun" of coming to see that someone else I work with...I'd had intimations that she's conservative (how proud she is about not being vaccinated), but the level of it looks to be worse than I'd feared. Nothing went in too deep or anything, it stayed pretty surface-level, but yeah. Of course the conversations started with the shootings and craziness of the night before. And it didn't go much deeper, but there was a brief run of gun-talk. Then a little later Naveen asked about opinions on Biden. She made an exaggerated finger-in-mouth gagging gesture. Then she talked, again not in detail, about how active she is in politics. Also at one point saying how they hope to take back congress in the midterms. So yeah. Anyway, moving on. After work Mary Beth and I went on a walk and it's pretty nice out now. I woke up like an hour early this morning because my back was sore and couldn't get back to sleep because of it. I don't feel too bad now that I'm up, but kind of annoying.
