we take all our gear downstairs and start setting up...while Dale, the Map Room guy, was off in the next "room" practicing w/ his band (The Great Depression) for their show at a different venue that evening...while we're waiting for him to help us get our sound ready/bring the p.a./etc...the other band we were playing w/, The Drop Science, were really nice...they're from San Diego, not Michigan as Dale had said earlier...but after a while he came out and gave us some more power strips and set the p.a. up...

one other thing, David is the band's jesus...not only had we been borrowing his bass amp for the past few weeks, but he showed up last night w/ his other amp...we ran my small Marshall throught it as a pre-amp (as it has a nice sound we wanted to keep...but it's a small amp and doesn't very loud...) and it worked really well that way...and he was also our video-dude...he ist und rökkür...(yea, i know "und" actually means "and" but it don't begrudge me none...)

the show went pretty well...it wasn't perfect, there were mess-ups, but nothing too bad..."A Case of a Derelict Heart Mended" (the last song we did) was the one that went the least well...my axxe-weilding was very sub-par for that performance...

The Drop Science were very good...Dale, the Map Room/Great Depression guy, had also screwed them over w/ a place to stay...he was all like "talk to me after you play," of course leaving before anyone played...but Brad let them stay at his place...another thing, there were a lot of ppl that turned up, surprisingly enough...pretty much all friends and friends of friends...and a good number of friends we don't see too often...

we hung out w/ The Drop Science after the show...i bought their cd...(Experimenting with Contrast, it is called...) we sat around talking at Brad's for a little while...when midnight hit it was the drummer's birthday...he looks almost just like Elvis Costello...as a side note...he wanted to go to a strip club...half the band just went to sleep but him and the bass player went...we went and picked Justin and John up from the Young Avenue Deli...there i saw Dale (different Dale, Jacques' semi-friend-guy who's moving back to New York monday...i talked to him briefly as we were leaving...he asked about the show and said he wasn't able to go 'cuz he'd been packing and stuff...then we went to Platinum Plus...it was the first time i'd ever been to a strip club...PP's pretty interesting 'cuz it has the police in their wallet so they get away w/ a lot of stuff...like fully nude dancers for starters...Elvis Costello guy (i forgot their names, my mind wasn't fully there last night) wanted to get a lap dance...David gave him $40 for his birthday for it...he went and got one...he had also been trying get w/ some girl Brad knows that was at the show...he might have...he rode to the club and back w/ her...they left before we did but weren't at Brad's when we got back...who knows...and there was this one stripper, as she was leaving, that was wearing this Misfits shirt and had like a Misfits purse thingie...i was all like "damnit"...oh well...

sunday i'll be going out of town...there's gonna be a rosary thing that afternoon/evening...i hate the rosary, but oh well...the funeral's monday...i guess that's all i have to say for now...i guess...
