Christmas pt. 3 -> New Year's Eve
Dec. 31st, 2000 06:09 pmto The Apartment last night, of course...went w/ Jacques to Dragon China and then to Wherehouse where i bought:
Chris Stanley & Kirk Ross: The Robust Beauty of Improper Linear Models in Decision Making
Lee Ranaldo: Broken Circle/Spiral Hill
i had never heard of Chris Stanley or Kirk Ross but the cd packaging was really cool as well as the album and song titles...then upon looking at the back i saw that Ira Kaplan plays on several songs...it also mentions that it is "Compositions & Improvisations for Guitar"...so all that along w/ it only being $5 i felt that it would be a worthwhile risk...and it was, as it is a very good cd...then as i was purchasing my "booty" the guy at the counter started talking about Lee Ranaldo and stuff...and how he had to specially order those cds 'cuz the sore would never get 'em otherwise...a little more talk about Thurston Moore side projects and seeing Sonic Youth themselves...that's all...it was a pretty brief conversation that lasted only as long as Jacques and i were each making our purchases...but it's cool talking to random ppl about Sonic Youth, when they seem to be competent in the subject...then back to The Apartment...more sitting around...Brian comes over...David returns from work and Brad shows up...it turns out he was merely being a complete and total bastard the day before (as we hoped) and ended up going to poetry slam instead of our well-planned christmas exchange for some odd reason...here's how that little exchange went:
Brad -> David, Laibach: Let It Be
Brad -> Jacques, This Is Spinal Tap video and cd that i forget what was...
Brad -> me, The Fall: The Collection (phat)
David -> Brad, Buzzcocks: Spiral Scratch
Jacques -> Brad, Buzzcocks: Operators Manual
me -> Brad, The Wedding Present: The Peel Sessions
watching more of the same Young Ones episodes (AGAIN)...Brad had brough his Dreamcast over and so some watching ppl play that occurred...after not too long i had to go home so i could sleep for work in the morn...did, but still not enough...worked...finished 2061: Odyssey Three while there...i was going to put off getting 3001: The Final Odyssey and catch up on other authors, but the ending to 2061 makes me not wanna wait too long to get to 3001...we'll see...i might borrow some Ballard from Jacques for my next reading venture...no Futurama's happening (AGAIN) 'cuz of damned damned football (AGAIN)...oh well...i'm hoping i get my freakin' Simpsons...oh yeah...i also did a little leaf raking for a little bit before it got too dark and started snowing...my driveway's covered...i hope the roads is aight though...if they is i'll be rollickin' the new year down ¡con «los chicos»! blah...welp, i guess that's all there is to share w/ my viewing public (ummm) for now...good night, godspeed, and rockin' new years...
