i pretty-much just got back from seeing Sonic Youth for the 3rd night in a row...the Nashville show...it was the least good of 'em all...but of course it was the worst context as well...the set was slightly shorter than the Pyramid show...and i had just driven 3 hrs and was uncomfortable from physical conditions that i won't go into (unless you REALLY want to know...) also i was a lot farther away from the band...(the very front of the general admission lawn...) and, not being seated, i was more surrounded by ummm...Pearl Jam fans...i was bothered by stupid security guards about my tape recorded twice...but it was resolved quickly since ummm...tape recorders are allowed at PJ shows...the actual setlist was better: Teen Age Riot, Bull in the Heather, Free City Rhymes, Nevermind (What Was It Anyway), Side2side, Kool Thing, Mote, The Burning Spear...and Mote and The Burning Spear ran into each other...it was VERY amazing the way they did it...i was quite excited when, durring the beautiful noise that ends Mote, i heard that first drum smack...it's pretty cool how i can tell The Burning Spear's gonna happen by just one beat...the set was really good though...they talked even less than they did at the Pyramid and there wasn't as much extra noise surrounding the songs...although Teen Age Riot ended w/ a several minute single-note feedback drone thing that ruled...it was really good, they seemed to be *less* into it than the other shows, but still very into it...most of this though is prob'ly coming from the fact that i was so far away...i've got a headache now which sucks, prob'ly due to tiredness...oh well...the show was still very much worth it...they were prob'ly still worn out from last night...many of us were about to die from just standing there...they were in the same heat and didn't let up from their usual energy at all...(were MORE energetic, to say the least...) i wish i wasn't so tired now, but i didn't get to sleep 'til after 5 this morning...and i woke up at 1 to do the relatively long drive...i was behind schedule for my plans...i got there about 7...but after i had been in Nashville a while traffic turned to shite...and the ampitheatre was a LOT farther from the interstate than i thought it would be...oh well...i'm glad i went and i'm more sad that my 3 days in a row of SY had to come to a close...
