and that's a good fucking neighborhood...in my delivery area...and i was working that night...(though i don't think i made a single delivery to the Cooper-Young area...) and when Camy told me about it today at work she fucking lied to me, saying something about the driver not making it to where he was supposed to be, buying drugs...ugh...well, Philen told me tonight that Camy's now giving the business 30 days to show a profit or she's closing down shop anyway...i kind've liked having a job and whatnot...we'll see what transpires when it does...

John the pizza guy

Hey. New lj user here. It freaked me out to hear about the shooting on the radio today. These sorts of things happen all the time in Memphis, I'm aware, but I'm sitting here wondering if perhaps I'd met this guy before or something. Shit. He could've delivered pizza to my apartment for all I know. I live down the street from where the shooting occurred. $40. Fucking pathetic. I'm so sick of the crime here. My boyfriend was jumped the other week just walking home from the Young Avenue Deli. Mind you, we only live a couple blocks away. The guy "asked" for his money, but B simply replied, "You'd better have a gun or a knife under that jacket because I'm about to kill you if you don't get out of my face." The guy backed off, but tried to follow B home. My boyfriend booked it back to our apartment since he had nothing to defend himself other than his fists and, long story short, he's back to carrying his gun with him everywhere. Ridiculous. But you do what you have to in order to protect yourself from idiots on the street. There are no safe places anymore. No use in running.

the whole thing hasn't quite sunk in as much as it should have...at least yet...right now it's still kind've associated (in some part of my mind) w/ stuff like that that happens in Frayser or south Memphis...but maybe it's best, i mean, there's nothing i can do about it now...(well...quit...but i need money and stuff...and i'd like to think that maybe it was an isolated incident...maybe it was...it'd better be, damnit...) as for guns, i'm not a gun person myself...even if i were, i'm sure it'd get used against me or i'd somehow manage to shoot myself in the face...

Right around the block from me, too. I've noticed more activity here ever since the substation moved north of the Cooper and Young intersection. As to whether or not this is an isolated incident could depend on if the guy is caught and prosecuted soon.

Carrying a loaded gun is always a bad idea unless you know how to use it.

I guess the only bright side to it is:
if Camy's does close, at least you know there's an opening at Pizza Hut....
