Hospital

I finished reading Strange Hotel by Eimear McBride and it was really good. It has a similarity to her other book that I've read in that it's stream-of-consciousness but it's different in that it's a disassociated stream-of-consciousness. I feel there's also a bit more I need to puzzle out. In the afternoon Mary Beth and I went up to cvs to get our barrage of shots: covid, flu, and hepatitis (which is new-to-us, maybe it's part of a new campaign or whatever). Then at night I got a call from The Med's emergency room concerning my sister. She had fallen and maybe had a broken nose but was otherwise mostly okay. The main reason she called was my number was about the only one Christina had committed to memory (she didn't have her phone on her) and was having trouble reaching the house to make sure Anthony was okay. So I said I'd call to check in. I reached my dad who was out driving around hospitals trying to find her. Ended up he felt he should stay at home with mom and Anthony and asked if I could go see her. So I went up to the hospital. The emergency room is a bit surreal. It's so tight and cramped in there. I first get in and they point me to a bed but I get there and the little cubicle area is empty. Then they said she'd just gotten sent to have a ct scan. So I waited maybe forty minutes before they wheel her back. She was pretty bused up. I was on her side so only saw her in profile but apparently her nose was pretty crooked. It was mostly cleaned up by then but you could tell there'd been a lot of blood. The nurses and doctors and staff were all very nice at least. After the consultation (or whatever you'd call it) with the doctor, found they were going to do a pretty gnarly procedure of manually resetting the nose. I wasn't sure how long she'd be there so I thought I might be able to leave but then she asked if I could give her a ride home. She had no clothes (the ones she came in were cut up in the ambulance), no shoes, no phone, no wallet. And she'd be getting out in "a few minutes" (which was a few minutes of hospital time, so a couple more hours overall). When they got to do the face resetting, I was asked if I wanted to be there for that and Christina had asked for a Dr. Pepper so I went out to get that for her, was pointed towards the vending machines through the byzantine hallways and I found the vending machine but the soda one was completely sold out and there were a few waters in the water machine so I got that. Then waited some more for them to be finished with the procedure. Then waiting to be cleared and waiting to be discharged. We were finally out at around 1:30 am (I had gotten there just after 10 pm). So then I drove her back home out to Germantown and then back home for a small amount of sleep! I don't say that as a complaint, just putting down what happened. I'm glad I was able to help her get back home as she otherwise was in a pretty bad position. Okay, now to try to work and stuff.
