ateolf: (Knoxville Boi)
Well okay, yesterday was a very big day. I got a call from the car dealership and the car had arrived on the lot that morning, much earlier than expected! They had to do the cleaning and getting it ready stuff so I'd be able to pick it up that afternoon. So I went by the bank to pick up the cashier's check. Yep, just bought a car in "cash", never thought that would happen. Then I spent bits of time trying not to think about having that much money on hand! Then I swung by Jacques' to pick up a keyboard amp that he's letting me borrow (for the park show today!). He wasn't going to be home but he arranged for Tiffany (who lives adjacent) to let me in. So then in the evening after work I got a lyft back up to Principle Toyota and finished everything and got my car. Got to give it a little test drive. Everything went smoothly, The only thing that went a little not-smoothly was the last thing where he tried to show me how to link my phone to the car's dumb smart electronic stuff. There were some issues connecting the account and all and it kept not showing up. Finally we got it working. I don't really like any of this super-connectivity and will very likely unconnect my phone, but since he wanted to show it there I figured we might as well go through the process. Don't exactly know the best way to hook up music yet. Since it was connected I listened to some bandcamp stuff on the way home. But it was weird and it took a while to get a song to play, then it stopped (long song, luckily, that made it most of the way home) and took a while to get something else playing. So yeah, hopefully I can get some other device connected and remove all the linked device/account stuff from my phone (and hopefully the tentacles aren't embedded too deep). But yeah, Principle Toyota out there on Winchester was really nice and great and everything was super easy after we were geared up for the whole thing to be a hassle and an ordeal. Oh, and a cool thing! We'd been led to expect that new cars now don't have spare tires anymore and they just give you a can of fix-a-flat in your trunk. But I was very pleasantly surprised to see a spare tire in the trunk after expecting it to not be there! Woo! After that I went to the grocery store to pick up some last supplies for the Nonconnah album release picnic show this afternoon at T.O. Fuller State Park! (I took the old car, we're being sparing on the new car until all the official stuff is completed, we know it'd be fine, but the old car is still good so why not.) Yeah, first time bought a brand new car (six miles on it), first time bought a car BEFORE it was desperately needed. And then at the end of the night was just gathering some stuff together needed for the show today. Yeah, okay! Off to get ready some more, I guess!
