ateolf: (zoo and you)
I went and made flyers for upcoming shows and went around to a few places putting them up. After that Mary Beth and I went up to the park. We walked the trail in the southeast corner that we'd never been on, the one that goes under the city maintenance depot thing and almost right up to Poplar. It's a smaller trail but it was still fun to walk something new-to-us. Then we went and hung out on the greensward. I had to go to the bathroom and wasn't able to get into the regular bathroom (I thought I saw someone go in one but maybe I was wrong, not sure if they're closed now) and went into a portapotty. Well, I step in and close the door and the damn thing start fucking wobbling. I'm just like, fuck, the damage is already done and I'm already in this damn thing so might as well just make use of it and go quickly and still. So it ended up being only mildly harrowing. Then I met Mary Beth up at a picnic table kinda near the pond (which we had a great view of as long as we willfully ignored the big pile of dog poop just a few yards away from us). But it was a very lovely day. The weather was nice, oscillating over the line of jacket or no jacket depending on clouds and wind. We saw this duck just booking it swimming across the pond, down its length, from one side to the other and back. Then when it started its second trek back across, it started moving in these start/stop bursts. We were talking about how he (it was a mallard) was anxious, waiting for a missed date. Then a little bit later this other duck flies in nearby (also a mallard). And our waiting duck goes straight towards him. Then they were hanging out together and swimming together for a good while. It was all true! Anyway, a nice time eating our Little Debbie Valentine cakes. While leaving, walking past the playground, there was this little boy who had tried to climb the small fence around the playground and had gotten stuck on that halfway point at the top. I was thinking it was kind of amusing but maybe he was crying harder than I'd realized and some other guy (don't think it was a relative or someone with him or anything like that) ran up and rescued him from it and I'm all, oops, should I have not been a jerk chuckling at a kid in pain and should have attempted to rescue him? I don't know! It was probably fine in spite of me! Back at home we ate dinner out on the back deck. Peanut came and joined us but was trying to get on the table where our food was, so I kinda held her back and she didn't like that and then went away. She came back a little later but only for a second. Later at night we watched some Avengers. That's about it!
