Don't really have much to report for yesterday, but I'll take this lag to report on a little inconsequential thing I realized a little while back. So there's this little church/chapel just around the corner from us (really, straight back through our back parking lot goes out right across the street from us). It had been empty and for sale for a while, but maybe a year or so maybe ago (maybe longer?) it got some new tenants and every now and again it would just get jam packed (it's a small little corner of small streets and it's a small building with a tiny lot so there's not much parking). And it would be weird times, like Friday nights especially. And we're annoyed by all the crowding over there and then just in principle, like why are so many people in midtown suddenly flocking to this fucking church? Well, I finally looked into it as I was a bit mystified and discovered that it was reopened not as a church but an events rental venue (weddings, receptions, parties, that kind of thing). So that totally explained the mystery! And it's a bit of a relief. It was a bit disconcerting to think our neighborhood was getting so super-religious (I mean, not that it's particularly anti-religious and there are plenty of the standard churches just on the other side of Parkway, but they're kind of their own thing and not just flooding the neighborhood streets...and then the weird hours was making this just seem like some kind of super-ecstatic near-cult kind of thing, but no, those were probably just some weddings). I also found out that the original chapel had been a church for the deaf, just an interesting little factoid.
