I had a minorly stressful show booking thingie yesterday where someone from out of town had reached out about booking a show and I'd gotten something set up and when I let them know they told me they'd also been talking to this band in town that is very much not experimental and very much outside the scope of what I'm doing with "Memphis Concrète" (and REALLY nothing against the band, it's just I want to keep the meaning of MC and not have it drift into anything goes, and I'm super-lax about what could be considered experimental with lots of things on the border or bridging established genres, which is fine, but when it comes to straight-up hard rock, it just doesn't fit and I don't want people to see a Memphis Concrète show and not feel it means anything), anyway, it was awkward but I let 'em know my concerns and the limits of what I could do as a promoter and that I'd be fine with them continuing on with the show with the other band with the venue booked as it is if someone else could just take it from there promotion-wise or if I kept on I'd want it to be experimental-only (as diplomatically as possible and I think I pulled it off alright, but those kinds of communications are hard), anyway they seemed understanding and let the band know they'd play with them next time. Other than that Mary Beth went on a walk yesterday and we got to play with the dog we'd been calling Helen again through the fence. Though yesterday Mary Beth noticed her collar and her actual name which is Cleo. She's so sweet and friendly! So hello, Cleo! Not a whole lot else. At night Mary Beth and I watched some Vida.
