Apr. 16th, 2022 10:32 amI got the recording from Thursday night's show up and on bandcamp yesterday so that widget is down at the bottom of this post. I was wrapping that up while Mary Beth started on a walk and then I joined her for about half of it when I finished and it was very lovely weather out. Later at night Mary Beth and I watched some Gilmore Girls.
Oh, a few things I remembered to mention after my last post: It was my first time at the newest Hi Tone location not only to play but to even be there at all. It's a pretty big contender for the uncanny valley as, while it is different, it's so very similar to the previous location. During Bing & Ruth's set, Emily (who I had mentioned before meeting at that Lamplighter show a few weeks ago and emailing me and also is playing a show next week with Paul) spilled a drink and their partner Caroline went to get some towels to clean it up and all. Anyway, afterward or as they were cleaning someone came up and asked what had happened if they'd spilled something or threw up or something and Caroline said "I pissed on the floor" and it was a great response and I had to give the ol' hi-five. This one should go without saying as I mentioned that my set went fine, but I will explicitly state that my case did not have any power issues at the new Hi Tone location! So that was a relief. I guess it's just the Lamplighter now so I at least figure out what to do to not have problems ever again. And the last thing I wanted to mention is the Hi Tone cat. I'd seen some pictures online but it was lovely to see it in person. I think they've called it Trash Cat but it's just a sweet little kitty (not literally a kitty) that hangs out around the front of the Hi Tone when there are shows and gets some food and stuff. I was getting merch from Bing & Ruth and I saw the cat from out the window behind them and I flipped out and shouted something like "oh my god! look at that cat!" and pointed. They'd been there and seen it already of course, but I still couldn't contain my joy at seeing a cute cat.
