ateolf: (synth & boobs)
Mostly been a pretty good end-of-week. Wednesday night Mary Beth and I watched Jules and Jim. Thought it was pretty good. Enjoyed parts of it a lot. It wasn't as light as I thought it'd be. Thursday at work as kinda frustrating. I'd continued work on exposing the web methods and I start overhearing John and Mafaz talking next to me and it turns out they're working on the exact same thing I'm working on, occassionally running into problems I'd recently run into and worked out. And it's a little annoying 'cuz it's like why the fuck are we doing the same thing? Just felt like time and resources were being wasted a bit. Anyway. Get off work and face the worst fucking traffic ever coming home. My possibly-15-minute drive (granted, at a time when there's NO traffic)/sometimes-20-ish-minute drive (on a good day coming home)/sometimes-30-ish-minute drive (on a bad day coming home) was a 45 minute drive. And I was expecting Dusting over and he beat me. Ugh. Anyway, the rest of the evening was awesome. He'd brought over his modular and we played with ours together and it was a ton of fucking fun. He has a Tyme Sefari which he's not into so I got to play that. It rules, but I was hoping it might be good for this specific song idea I have, but after playing it I'm even more sure the Phonogene is what I need. After a bit we went with Mary Beth over to Belly Acres. I hadn't been. It was okay. Definitely sounds a lot better than it ends up being (which was the synopsis I'd heard before). I got the breakfast-themed burger. It had waffles for buns which sounds AWESOME, but the waffles are bad. You can tell they're frozen, which could've been fine if they were toasted and crispy, but they were limp and flavorless. The burger itself was also lacking in flavor. It wasn't BAD, but it felt maybe overcooked or like it had the juice squeezed out of it or something. The other toppings were good. And overall it wasn't bad, like I say, but I think they miss the mark of what they're going for. And possibly if any one of those issues were resolved it could've worked out (okay burger but awesome waffles or awesome burger with mediocre waffles). Anyway, yesterday at work was alright. Actually, kinda stressful at first. There was an issue that was given to me to research and it ended up being a blocker, but it concerned something that happened to be broken in my jboss code (they're currently still on the old weblogic server) so I was unable to find out what was wrong before their code freeze at noon. The manager of that project got a bit pissed when he realized the issue couldn't be resolved. Pretty sure not mad at me, but I felt bad about it. I did continue to work on the issue all day, fixing the code on our side to see what's going on. Did end up getting it to work by the end of the day (and like everything else in the chain of issues I'd been working out that led up to this one, it had to do with bad input being sent...at least now the jboss code is getting fixed). Okay, enough boring ass work shit. Today Mary Beth and I walked down the street to the Overton Square crawfish festival. This one's gotten pretty big. It's cool 'cuz people are parking in front of our house for it anyway. No long waits either. We just bought some and walked back and ate it on our deck, enjoying the sun until we were getting too sweaty. Anyway, good times.
