we actually/finally had practice again on thursday...i'd say it wasn't bad this time...it wasn't very long but we weren't too off...we worked around playing the songs w/ our fucked-up gear...just did "A Better Way of Failing" and "Homage" and started to do "Slow Autumn" before Brad had to go to work...and after Brad left Jacques wanted to work on this Galaxy 500 song that he had just learned how to play...Keith and i had never heard it so we just kind've made something up that went along w/ it...Jacques playing guitar, me on bass, and Keith on drums...the bass part that i made up w/ it was so cool that we stopped and started writing a song to go along around it...it rules too! Jacques went to work and Keith and i came up w/ a synth part for Brad to play on the Korg...i'll also mention here that since i haven't written my paper for models of comp yet, i decided to skip "class" (yesterday's crop of presentations) i guess i'll turn it in the day of my presentation...if i'll ever have anything ready...so before my other class, Keith and i went to the Mars music to look at amps...there are two there that, if nothing else comes up, i'm deciding between...a Fender stack...the Stage 100, i THINK...the head and cabinet together are a little over $800...and the Fender Twin Reverb...it's a little over a thousand...pros for the stack: it obviously can get louder, it'd be easier for feedback...i has good ol' gain nobs which makes for easier noise rock action, it's close to $200 cheaper...pros for the Twin Reverb combo: it just sounds fucking GREAT...the other sounds good but this just has the nicest sound, being smaller means it's easier to transport and it should definately be more than loud enough anyway...also even though it doesn't have separete built-in gain knobs, it'll get tube distiortion when it's turned up...and i'll have my Big Muff (if i can get it working again) anyway...and i know i shouldn't let a mere $200 get in the way of such an important investment as an amp...you don't get new amps very often so whatever i choose will have to be a good one...for posterity, yo...i'm gonna look around some more so we'll see...

i'll also mention that on the way there we ate Wendy's and it was even more garbagey than usual for some reason...it was super garbagey...but after amp lookin'-at i went to class...i've come to the conclusion that my real analysis professor should marry me...after class i went to Brad's to kick it w/ Brad and Keith...we went to Turtle's...i got the Mulholland Drive soundtrack...among other things Brad got Blue Velvet on dvd...we returned to Brad's and watched it...god i love that movie...David Lynch gives me a lipstick...then we spent the rest of the way-too-late time awake looking through band names (and then to album titles) replacing key words w/ the word "turd"...i think the best was My Bloody Turd...yes, we're sad...but at 4 in the morning, it's damned hilarious stuff, ya'll...a true classic among games...

dude, i'm seriously looking at twins myself.

but you can really do much better on the used market. the '65 reissue' ones are around en masse, i just saw one in a shop for $650. better yet, so-called silverfaced ones (from about 1968-the late 70s) go for even less, under 5 bills in some cases. still sticking with the peavey however.

yea...i've been looking...although w/ my current bass amp being so messed up, i'm thinking for once it might be a good idea to go w/ new...for the whole lasting longer (hopefully) issue...i've been doing a little looking though...i plan on seeing what Consignment has now...though i think one of the music stores here is having a massive Christmas sale...huge chunks of percents off their prices...i plan on seeing how those prices fare...they're one of those authorized Orange dealers too...maybe they'll have 'em affordable...i guess i'll see when i go or something...
