Had a pretty good meeting with the Memphis Concrète crew (at least Paul, Jacques, and Luís) up at Cafe Brooks. Just coming up with some of the plan and the specifics that Crosstown needs before finalizing the partnership. I emailed Laurie Spiegel yesterday morning and she actually got back to me yesterday afternoon. She's not doing live performances now but I thought it was cool she emailed me back! Later in the evening Mary Beth and I went to the last ever Impossible Language reading. It was good. The first poet had some stuff that was really good and Mary Beth got her book. The last one I loved her style a lot. Almost all her stuff is about Memphis or the area (she's from here but lives elsewhere now), but her style/rhythm/sonorousness is what did it for me. I picked up a couple of her books: In the Low Houses and River Mouth by Heather Dobbins. And now it's another day, yeah.
