yesterday was overall pretty damned shitty...i get to work and the reverse goes out on my car...so my car no longer drives backwards...and Boyce (one of the closing drivers last night) was semi-fired (he wasn't fired last night but he left or something...he'll pretty much be fired right away now though...) so they were short so i stayed a while...they didn't give me any downtown runs because of my car so it wasn't too bad but i had a few near disasters...the first was barely anything, but i was turning around on Elzey St. getting up in a driveway to use the slope to roll back far enough...it mostly worked but i was still a little short to make the curb so i had to push my car backwards some but it went alright...the second was the worst...i was out on Alexander, turning around after a delivery the same way, but Alexander's wider so i was going to just do a full u-turn but it wasn't wide enough and i got fucking stuck...and the street slopes down to the curb so when i tried to push it back i was working against the slope...and i wasn't able to push it back...i tried driving up onto the curb but it wasn't working at first...after going back to pushing and calling work i finally tried driving onto the curb again and that worked...so i drove up through someone's yard onto their driveway to roll down that onto the street...but going down, the front left tire went off the driveway and the car got stuck and wouldn't roll back and it wouldn't be pushed either...so i drove across their yard to the next driveway, going out forward onto the street thus resolving my dilemma...then later i was on Evelyn doing the driveway thing again not quite making it, but this time there was some more slope and i was having trouble...also, there was a phone pole right in front of me so the curb was no longer an option...luckily w/ enough work i was able to push it back just enough to make it...so yea, sucky shit...at least i made good tips, for the 5 hrs of that shift i made $100...i went back home, dropped my car off and borrowed my mom's car for the second shift...i made $55 for the 3 hrs i was driving for that...since Boyce wasn't there, i had to take up the part of closing driver and do the end-of-night cleaning w/ the others...i guess i'm gonna have to buy a new car now...
