another wednesday, another night of karaoke...

first i did "China Girl" (Bowie's bad version, of course...) in the style of Iggy...later i did "Wicked Games" w/ Chris...and finally i did "Polk Salad Annie" some Elvis song i had never heard but the titled was really stupid so i went for it...the song was really stupid too...i was terrible...it was great...there's some other weird crap that's been going on...but it involves one of my friends and not me so i don't feel disposed to talk about it here...other than that, i've nothing else to talk about in my sad little life...but i'll throw in the fact that Lou Barlow fucking rules...

;B!

i can never get china girl right when i do it iggy style. the yelling part always sounds all wrong, which makes it even cooler.

just want to reiterate that the inbred fucking cretin who apparently sang (but didn't write, surprisingly enough with a title like that) "polk salad annie", and other such crap, is revered by millions as a brilliant musician. i'd actually probably rather listen to today's alt-radio fodder than elvis. maybe.

radio fodder

i just screamed it...it was pretty cool...Donna got (as per usual) but that's how the song goes!

hrm...i'd rather listen to Elvis than most of that...at least Elvis knew he couldn't write a song...unlike Korn and the rest of 'em...

donna got...what?

[identity profile] newness-ends.livejournal.com 2002-01-03 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
that's true, actually. i might have been typing in anger. at least i can tune elvis out, since he's not as loud as the crap music of today. plus, he had the decency to die, which can't be said for too many boring musicians of today, save for jeff buckley...

As a side note, some fellow inbred fuckers want to change the name of Memphis International Airport to Elvis Presley International Airport.

I wonder if Paul MacLeod has anything to do with this...

"fellow"?...as far as i know, my parents aren't related...

god, i hope someone shoots down (ha ha) that fucking stupid idea. as if this city's revolting elvis obsession isn't bad enough already. take a perfectly inoffensive airport name, then change it as a tribute to the world's most revered deceased singing monkey.

Well...I think "Memphis" associated with any name is fairly offensive.

Oh and I meant "fellow" as in along with Elvis, not you...

i know you didn't mean me, but i didn't want any third parties to think, you know...

i wonder what paul mcleod is up to these days...we should pay him a visit, maybe drag some of the uninitiated down there too (if we know any uninitiated). that'd be ace.

you know, next, they'll be trying to change the name of the mississippi river to the "jeff buckley teen-angst drowning-overrated-cretinous-warbling-folk-garbage river". i'd vote for that because:
(1) it's funny that jeff buckley drowned, and
(2) it doesn't contain the word "mississippi"

hey - i e-mailed your memphis.edu address, but i thought you might not be able to check it since it's a school address. but, all ado aside, i was wondering if you knew brad's cell phone number. when he left portland, he told me he wanted me to call him when i was back in town. of course, he could have changed his mind about that by now, but i still would like to talk to him. at least once. if you don't have it, then that's fine. i'm sure i'll reach him at home one of these days.

Hmmmmm....

Did the "weird stuff" with your friend involve the "slammer"?

rough justice

[identity profile] newness-ends.livejournal.com 2002-01-03 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
