caffeine youth

just went to Sessil's to get many-a can of caffeine...purchasing the 2 12 packs of coke, the register guy asked me if i was going to the music fest (in reference to my SY shirt...) i was like yea...he said he wasn't going...and then that he wasn't really a fan of SY...that he hadn't heard 'em much...as they had two songs on the radio in his lifetime..."Bull in the Heather" and that other one...(this is all paraphrase, of course...) i told him that they're my favorite band...and he asked me what album he should rush out and get...i told him Daydream Nation is my favorite...and he said he'd go rush out and get it...i told him i didn't gurantee he'd like it, but it's not their least accessible...so i might've opened the doors for one dude into the realms of SY-liking/indie rock (SY were (mostly) my "gateway" band...there were a few others too...) either that, or provided another copy of Daydream Nation to the used bins of our fine city...

also driving back, i realized for the first time just how great the "solo" on "M" (The Cure song) is...that's all...

now, to programming!!! (finally...i hope...yea, i suck...)

I can't tell you how many times I put that song "Genetic" on mixtapes for people who aren't into SY, and they'd dig it. That should've been on an album.

let me tell you everything...

that song does fucking rule...it was almost on Dirty...but for some reason it lost the dispute of what got cut from the final album...and i there was a bit of tension between Lee and Thurston between this...an argument of sorts...Lee wanted that song on the album...i don't know all the sorrid details...though it's nice for cred, having such a great song and it being a b-side and whatnot...

apparently they thought "Creme Brulee" was a better song. I read about the Lee thing in that SY book.

Are you SYrious?

I would have pointed him to either EVOL or SYR1 (the "French" EP). Maybe not the easiest "in" to SY, but then again, is there really an easy in to SY?

Yeah, Daydream Nation rawks. But you could have sold him on the fact that Neil Young (despite being Canadian) thinks that "Expressway To Yr Skull" is the greatest guitar song of all time.

I personally like "Tom Violence" better.

i'd say Goo, Dirty, or Experimental Jet Set... are their best intro-albums...(though it's really hard to say for sure...) but i wasn't thinking about that...i was just at the counter at a grocery store getting some coke so i could stay up all night tonight...and i said Daydream Nation as it's my favoritest album ever...but, i guess it doesn't matter TOO much which album i said...if you don't like one SY album, chances are you won't like the rest...w/ the exception of maybe Confusion Is Sex and Bad Moon Rising...and the SYRs (especially 4) and Silver Session and stuff like that...

"Marilyn Moore" is my favorite off Evol...and "'Cross the Breeze" is prob'ly my favorite (guitar) song of all time...

Daydream Nation was always my favorite, too.
