another interview

well, i don't think my interview went too terribly well...my answers were not very good...i don't yet really know anything about how to teach yet...at least it was practice for the interviews that may come up next week...the assistant principal recommended a book to me: The First Days of School by Harry K. Wong & Rosemary T. Wong (i went to the store and got it a little bit later...)

last night's walk was nice...the weather was of an impending storm, but the storm didn't come so it was cool and overcast...anyway, i'm hungry and should eat something i guess...

You'll find something. For sure you are smarter and better at communicating than half the teachers I had growing up.

He just hasn't had any experience--ANY!--in the day in day out basics like, you know, goals and organized scheduled tasks and lesson plans and how to just structure a day's class, etc. That interview ended up being a blessing in disguise because the interviewers were really nice and also to the point about things he needs to think about--how would your class be organized, what would you do the first week, etc--and their book suggestion ended up helping a lot--he was going through it and watched the DVD it included the same day and already has a way clearer picture of things. He didn't have any subbing experience or any working-in-a-school experience and the courses he's taken so far in his Masters program have had very little practical application, more general approaches to understanding teen psychology and different needs and that's it. He hasn't even taken the class on grading effectively yet, much less anything about lesson plans or structuring things...

the big event is this coming week, so the fact that interview popped up suddenly right before and gave him a ton of insight is pretty great.

well, thank you very much, though i'm not very good at interviews...i'm sure i'll end up with something as they're pretty desperate for math teachers, but hopefully i'll be able to finagle something i'll be more happy with than not...
