happy birthday, mom...

last night Mary Beth and i went out and my parents and sister and nephew for my mom's birthday...my dad had a crazy story to relate about his work: there's some new documentary on hbo about right wingers and racism or something like that called something about "the right feeling wrong" or something...anyway, they're interviewing some rednecky guy and ask him if he voted for Obama and says something along the lines of "hell no i didn't vote for no damn nigger" something like that, at least invoking the "nigger"-word...and then he turns around to get into his truck and it has my dad's company's logo on the side...so of course they freak out and get their lawyers and private investigators into it and the guy was never employed with 'em but bought the parts off an old truck they had scrapped...so they had to go through all this trouble to get hbo to blur their logo out of future broadcasts (and even something about going and doing the same to bloggers or something...) that was a pretty crazy story and more interesting than anything i have to say...speaking of which, today at work i finished reading Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie...and that's the end of that chapter...

However, when it comes to literature I did not seek an answer. If literature dreams of some fruit or result in the form of some perfect wisdom and other similar things, it may mean that it is already dead.

yeah, pretty much.

some korean dude. i was reading a thread about him, he's a poet and a monk or something, and that quote rang true, maybe because it's right after that lt thread or something. it's a good way to describe my initial reaction whenever some pompous person starts huffing and puffing about what art or a novel or whatever "needs" to be in order to work. pfft.
