some shit and some crap...
christ, what to say about the last few days? on tuesday we got our new schedules at work...i get fucking 6 am to 2:30 pm monday through friday...it's only for a week, but fuck...it turns out they just don't offer any mid-shift schedules anymore, or even fucking normal 9-5ish schedules...the start times stop at like 7-something am and pick back up again at 1-something pm...kind of a whole bunch of bullshit...and then later in the day i get a fucking Verbal Warning for having my shoes off...i told them about my toe surgery and all that shit and they didn't fucking care and the fucking cunt that manages the center had me written up...nice i have my doctor fax something over the next day and they still don't fucking care and won't remove the warning...i was wanting to report them to whichever government agency i could for violation of whichever shit i could, but tennessee's osha crap doesn't seem to help me much...i dunno, if anyone has any information that could help me...whatever...then we hosted trivia tuesday night...i wouldn't say "disaster" but uh...it's the first week of school so there's hardly anybody there...only like three regular teams (which just so happened to be the teams that won...) and there were a whole bunch of newcomers that kinda sucked terribly at trivia and seemed disgruntled...and we really didn't make it hard, but the atmosphere that night felt pretty bad...well, so my round was an audio round, identify the song by the synth part...it went about as well as any other round that night...
Talking Heads "Burning Down the House"
Radiohead "Let Down"
Heart "Magic Man"
New Order "Blue Monday"
The Edgar Winter Group "Frankenstein"
Steve Miller Band "Fly like an Eagle"
Roxy Music "Virginia Plain"
Stevie Wonder "Living for the City"
Goblin "L'alba Dei Morti Viventi" [Dawn of the Dead Theme]
Devo "Freedom of Choice"
Pink Floyd "Welcome to the Machine"
Kool & the Gang "Summer Madness"
The Cars "Just What I Needed"
The Cure "A Forest"
and the runners up that didn't make it to the final cut: Kraftwerk "Pocket Calculator" (was actually in it til the very end when a substitution for Heart was enacted, probably good 'cuz no one would have gotten it...and Heart was one that at least some got...and a few that guessed a different song still guessed that it was Heart...), Radiohead "Karma Police" (and good we didn't go with this one 'cuz i also found out the noise at the end isn't a synth but a delay machine going crazy and then shutting off...a tape delay i assume...), Goblin "Suspiria" (and as no one guessed the other Goblin track and this one's even more obscure, well, since no one guessed the other i guess it doesn't matter anyway...at least the movies are somewhat well-known...), The Police "Don't Stand So Close to Me," and Rush "Tom Sawyer"...probably should have added the last two in...i wanted more of the well-known radio songs that i don't actually like in, but others thought they'd all be too easy...from the results of the entire trivia experience we realize that NONE of it was TOO easy...and a lot of the "too easy" songs people could guess the band but missed the song...so...anyway...enough prattling...it was fun coming up with it...in spite of the uncomfortable execution...
yesterday at work they started us on the new system towards the end of the day...there arent' even enough consoles so they had us double-jacking for part of it...kind of stupid...then today was the first day entirely on the new system...i come in and there's nowhere to sit so i just wait around for almost 20 minutes, just waiting...then there's a ton of problems with everything...and the biggie was they were moving something in the california center so they routed california calls to us for a little while (yeah, no one here's ever taken a california call...) but then of course we're overloaded with calls for that time 'cuz california's a much bigger state and to top that off most of the calls have severe technical problems...the one i got that connected after a little bit the woman on the voice side said she couldn't hear me and the connection was bad and the line kept cutting in and out and at the same time the tty user started saying he was getting garble and so then they both hung up...then i just get some fucked up shit happen that locks my console up...other people were having similar issues of course...the california debacle didn't last long and most things aside from that were somewhat okay, but there were still issues...so that lent the day an air of fun, witnessing everything in that place go to pieces a little bit...oh yeah! and then i came home and got a package containing my next module: another envelope generator! much needed! woo!
