chicks

tuesday was the Cat Power show...it was pretty decent...i picked Amber up on the way from way...the show was mostly stuff i'd never heard, new i presume...she did like 3 songs off You Are Free and "Wild Is the Wind" and that's it as far as "old" material...it wasn't a bad show...it'd be cool to see her with a band but i guess that doesn't really happen outside of records nowadays...some crazy stuff went on at that show though...first of all i'd like to point out how insanely and unbelievably crowded it was...fuck! anyway, i was wearing my New Order: Movement shirt...then i see there's this girl there wearing a Movement shirt as well! and where mine had the writing in blue hers was pink...after i notice this this middle aged woman comes up and comments on my shirt, first asking where i got it then saying something about how i must have been in diapers when she first heard that record or whatever...anyway, later on in the set she leaves and slips me a small piece of paper...with her digits, of course...and a short message "you remind me of my first"...i guess life wouldn't be complete without the random creepy message every now and again...later on as i was looking the other way that New Order chick stood next to Amber and so she mentioned her shirt then grabbed me and i turned around confused and she said something like "awesome" in response to our identical shirts...that was that...i know i'm sure you were expecing some great tale of romance...sorry about that...at least the show was an early one we were out before 11! (typically shows are just starting then...) but they had to make room for the beer bust afterwards (!? beer bust and Cat Power, what a pairing, i know...) oh yeah, there was some old dude that opened and played rock'n'roll and it was lame...

i've been getting some books read this week!: tuesday i finished Time out of Joint by Philip K. Dick, wednesday i finished Jarmila by Ernst Weiss, and today i finished The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon...(okay two of those books are short...but anyway...) yesterday and today i worked overtime...yesterday 3 hours and today a full 4 hours being there nonstop from 9 am to midnight...i'm happy to be home...in the mail on tuesday i got some junk: a couple of books: The Sorrow of War by Bao Ninh and Novel without a Name by Duong Thu Huong...and a cd: Sigur Rós: Takk. . . and i guess that's it...

"you remind me of my first"

That woman trying to pick you up is the creepiest creepy pick-up I've heard about for a long time.

I can't wait to be about ten years older so I can start slipping that note to young guys at clubs.

if i looked my age i could probably pull it off with 18 year old girls...and though i don't look 18, i think i probably don't look old enough to pull off THAT sort of creepy...of course, i could still be plenty plain ol' creepy...ooh, i've got a good note: "just don't tell me how old you are XXX-XXXX"...

I think I'm going to go to a playground tomorrow and try that "you remind me of my first" line on a eight-year-old boy.

unfortunately it doesn't work too well at that age...they usually just look confused...

i saw cat power open up for sy earlier this year.

i thought it was a decent set.. people sure were rude though.

the idea of the new record - soul-influenced- kinda scares me though...

hm...i guess we'll have to see about that one...what she played live wasn't bad...(of course doesn't touch the first 2 records...but that almost goes without saying...also difficult to tell for sure just hearing it solo...but if it's alright like that it should be at least good if there's more instruments, etc...maybe not...who knows...)

...then saying something about how i must have been in diapers when she first heard that record or whatever...

"I still am!"

me too...but only while i'm listening to the record...it's due to what i call the "Hooky-effect"...

uh huh...it unplugs my Barney-hole every time...
