organ of the past

so the organ was picked up from the thrift store as planned yesterday...i took it home and played with it...it's fucking awesome...i fixed the stuck key, sort-of...i took it out and put it back how it's supposed to go...it's still missing a screw and a spring so it'd pop back up when you push it down, but i wadded some tape underneath it and that holds it up so it can be quiet and it almost sort of works right to play it...but usually when you hit it you have to hit it again towards the back to make it stop...not a perfect solution but a far greater success than i could have hoped for! i also figured out the main "problem" is that the stoppers that give it the extra sounds (brass and diapason...) are messed up (the setting for string works fine but that's more just the basic sound)...i think they're electrical but i'm not sure...but the thing is they sort of work on certain keys, but in a broken way...like certain keys you hit the extra sound will try to come through but it's all messed up and makes a broken-sounding racket...on the diapason setting it makes this feedback noise...sometimes if you have it set on that and you tap on the top or the side of the organ it'll make that noise happen...it seems like it may be actual feedback and it uses a mic inside for something...'cuz it amplifies it when you tap on the top...makes a little plink sound...i also discovered a trick with the built in drum machine...it has four beats: rock, fox trot, waltz, metronome...on some of 'em you can push in two of the buttons at once and it makes a different beat! i don't think it's an intentional part of the design, but it's certainly cool...it's pretty much you can combine any one with another as long as it's not waltz and it'll make a new beat happen...so i guess that's an extra three beats...take what you can get and make it rock...or something...

anyway later on i went over to Jacques/Amber's...Jason and Amanda came over too...we watched stuff...i'm about to tear the skin off my nose with all the scotch tape i'm continually puttin on it...laugh as you may, it works...it helps keep my nasal passage open...i'm sure the kind of nasal strips you buy in the store are better for the nose and possibly work a little better...but i don't have those...if this cold keeps up i may get some...since my nose is fucking red now...

The funniest thing is that I haven't drank enough coffee yet and I missed the words "thrift store" and I was totally seeing you at home playing with a liver or a kidney.
