work work work work work

day 2 of my adventures at my parents'...they opened up overtime for all so i signed up for 4 extra hours...so i was at work all goddamned day...but on the positive side, i was in the trs queue so i had tons and tons of downtime like never before and i got to do a ton of reading...negative in that less time with the doggies...but i need money, they'll understand...they're very forgiving anyways...not too much to say other than that, obviously not much room for anything else to go on...i'll end with a few quotes from Kafka's diary:

3 July, 1913:
When I say something it immediately and finally loses its importance, when I write it down it loses it too, but sometimes gaines a new one.

20 October, 1913:
. . . I am now reading 'The Metamorphosis' at home and find it bad. Perhaps I am really lost, the sadness of this morning will return again, I shall not be able to resist it for long, it deprives me of all hope. I don't even have the desire to keep a diary, perhaps because there is already too much lacking in it, perhaps because I should perpetually have to describe incomplete -- by all appearances necessarily incomplete -- actions, perhaps because writing itself adds to my sadness.

it's pretty swell...listening to it now...well, i mean, you just saw that...but like uh, it's STILL playing now some minutes later, yeah...fine stuff...i almost recoilled in horror when i first started to hear their cover of "Open Arms", then it got better...can't say "Blowin' in the Wind" is too great though, but yeah...almost all of it's pretty great...

yeah some of those covers are a little wonky. inside the booklet it said they did open arms as a wedding present to someone, so that kind of explains that. what made them put it in the box set though?

well, like i said, it gets better...but at first it's so straight ahead it's scary...and not in a funny way, until he starts laughing and stuff...then it's funny or something...though like they said at the beginning of the liner notes, in not-so-many-words, they were throwing it all on and letting us decide...though i do decide a Bob Dylan cover (and some others too, like John Denver) is a bad thing no matter who does it...

i really like some of the covers a lot though. and i like a lot of the b-sides songs.
