pretentious muthafucka!!!
let's see uh, saturday night i messed around with the recording and recorded a little thing and that was fun, didn't really spend a whole lot of time on it...then Jason and Amanda came over...we watched Shredder Orpheus, uh, geez...i can't even find the words to describe that...let's just say it ROCKED!!! then uh sunday was mother's day and stuff...i went and met my dad, mom, and sister at the rehab clinic place my grandmother's at and we all hung out there for a little bit...then my sister said she wanted to hang out with me (probably just an excuse to get away from my parents' i don't know...) so i ended up going to the Sebadoh show last night with her...it was a nice surprise running into Jack there...i also finally got to see The Coach and Four...i had heard good things about them, so that naturally led me to be terribly terribly underwhelmed by their performance..the first song was actually pretty good, and there were bits and pieces scattered throughout their set that had potential, but overall there was this country-driven pop that dominated the sound, making it sound like a somewhat better Jackson Browne (much thanks to Jack for helping me pointpoint just who they were reminding me of...) once Kerry said they sound somewhat like The Family Ghost...thanks a lot! i take that as an insult having finally heard them...and i wanted to like them, but they blew it, by crikey...i mean, they weren't HORRIBLE, just so bland i could barely tell they were there...anyway, Sebadoh was good...it was just Lou and Jason and sometimes drum tracks being provided by a boom box...the set was nicely dominated by Lou's material...uh, and Lou got really fucking drunk...at times his drunken-between-song prattling became near-painful, sometimes it was amusing though...they did some of my favorites (at least that i know about...as i only have 3 of their albums...) they did "Brand New Love" as an encore 'cuz everyone kept shouting for it when they said they were gonna stop playing...which was fine by me as i fucking love that song...it had an extended ending where Lou kept screaming...it was amusing and all...uh yeah, not an amazing show, but a good show...they played (or at least seemed to) for a really long time...i was ready to pass out like halfway through their set...it was over at 2 am, not too good since i had to wake up early today...
but i woke up early today and got my car inspected...it literally took 2 minutes...and i thought i wasn't gonna make it when he tested my emergency brake...my actual brake works, but the handle that turns the brake on and off is broken, it won't lock in place...so when it got to that part i just pulled it up and kept pulling with my arm until it was over...thankfully, i pulled it off...i think the guy might have turned around and gave a funny look when i drove off and my trunk bounced...well, i had GOTTEN AWAY at any rate...so then i went and got the title transferred so now all that bullshit's taken care of...after i was finished, i had a decent amount of time to spare before work and i was in the same mini-mall as Borders so i walked there and bought a few books:
The Annotated Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Diaries 1910-1923 by Franz Kafka
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
the guy who checked me out said "please tell me this is for school" and i just told him "no, i'm just naturally a pretentious reader..." okay, i didn't actually say that...but that would have been COOL...he said something about it being ambitious for me to read that for pleasure something about remembering being subjected to Nabokov and Dostoyevsky in school or something...his teacher said he had ruined his pallet by reading too much Stephen King...this whole conversation transpired within the course of a minute...my whole contribution was pretty much mumbling something about having liked Crime and Punishment...i just thought it was semi-amusing...yeah...then i worked...was tired...now i'm home...the end or some shit...
